Where can I find the support services such as grocery?

Phone/Faxes... There are card phones available at MCR (resort) for 24 hour use. Phone cards can be purchased at "The Trader".
Electricity.....
Sockets are 3 pin 240v plugs (the same as New Zealand/Australia)
Laundry.... Reef House doesn't have laundry facilities, but MCR resort has a coin operated full laundry. You can also have their housekeeping department do everything for you for a small charge.

Currency... MCR Reception or 'The Trader" general store will exchange your foreign currency.

Church Services... Sunday and special occasion services are conducted on the Island. For further details contact MCR Reception.

Medical... First aid and minor medical attention is available on the Island. Aircraft and boat evacuation is available in emergencies.

Tides... Daily tide times are shown on the activity board at the Dock. Some water sports & boat trips can be effected by the tides and you should consult the Activity Program for operating times There is deep water for swimming at all tides off the end of Ratu Nemani Island.

Restaurant... "Dick's Place" Restaurant is open daily 7:30am to 9:30pm, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks in between. A children's Dinner Menu is available from 5:00pm to 7.00pm. Children dining with adults off the main menu are half price.
"Dicks Place" Bar & Bistro.....
Cocktail Bar opens at 8:00am daily and provides Restaurant and Poolside Terrace service until late at night.
Day Time Dress Code...Shorts, swimsuits, etc is the normal wear everywhere, however if you wish to dine is the Restaurant for breakfast or lunch we request you wear a shirt.
Night Time...
From sundown we request you wear neat casual attire (no brief shorts, bikini tops etc)
however a sulu with shirt for men and a sulu with bare feet for the ladies is the real Island dress.
Entertainment...
the Fijian Island Band entertains nightly (except Sunday) at "Dick's Race" Restaurant and Bar. Every Thursday is our "Pig on the Spit" Island night, so get into the swing, wear your sulu and colorful shirt. The Musket Cove meke group also performs traditional mekes from 8.30pm - 9.30pm every Thursday flights.
 "The Trader"... The general store is open between 8:00am to 7:00pm daily and offers everything you require to prepare a full meal, a barbecue, or just a snack. This extensively stocked facility is a major plus. Fresh fruit and vegetables are flown in daily, fresh bread, milk and eggs are also available. There is a good selection of cheese, yoghurt, meat, chicken and frozen foods, a range to suit all tastes. Fresh seafood is caught daily as well as fresh fruit and vegetables grown in our own gardens on the island. The shelves are generously stocked with a large variety of tinned products, baby foods and baby necessities. Chocolate, sweets, ice creams, ice blocks and cold drinks to quench the thirst in the warm balmy weather.
Marina Coffee Cove...
This is a coffee shop situated on the verandah of "The Trader" and opens daily between 10.00am and 6.30pm.
Over looking the inner lagoon, on the verandah of "The Trader" is the Marina Coffee Cove Cafe, a wonderfully casual and relaxing venue for a meal, a snack, an ice-cream (virtually anything you wish) or merely to chat over a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy the scenery. Prepared BBQ packs are also available as well as delicious Takeaways. Please order BBQ packs at the Coffee Cove by 4:00pm. Coffee (mug), Tea (mug), Hot Chocolate (mug) and Iced Tea (glass)
Ratu Nemani Island..... A sand between the toes beach bar with yacht club priced drinks. With a world wide reputation for it's barefoot atmosphere. There are BBQ facilities available
MCR Boutique...
Open between 8:30am to 6:00pm daily offering casual resort wear, souvenirs, books, postcards, stamps, chemist and photographic lines, etc.
MCR  Library... Situated at the Marina Office for your reading pleasure. Swap or Honesty Box.
Local Customs...
Fijian people are renowned for being friendly and hospitable and should you visit a village, home or church, please dress conservatively. Before entering remove shoes. We ask that you respect customs & beliefs. Please do not offer alcohol to staff or villagers.

Why doesn't Reef House provide more facilities?

Reef House is owned independently from our neighboring resort (MCR). To avoid duplication and for your enjoyment you can use all their amenities , many free of charge, but have the privacy of a secluded retreat. They include Boutique, Video Room, Marina and Yacht Harbor and 2 swimming pools. Extensive choice of water activities as well as a yacht charter and game fishing base PADI Gold Palm Resort Facility. Walking and jogging trails, Beach Volleyball, Musket Cove Yacht Club, host and organizer of the annual Fiji Regatta Week, Musket to Port Vila Race currently with over 8,000 lifetime members all over the world. Conference facilities - seating 30-40 auditorium style.

MCR resort , is 15 minutes walk from the house.

25 minutes walk is the Plantation Island Resort  which is great for kids (has a kids club) and teenagers love it as it has the late night disco.

Who owns the tropical resort MCR?

The resort is entirely family owned and operated, Fiji's oldest resort company, recently celebrating 40 years experience in the Fijian hospitality industry. You will be hosted by 120 extremely warm and dedicated staff, who will endeavor to ensure a unique holiday experience.

What is the accommodation like and cost?

Reef House is

  • The place for privacy, self cater, entertain a group of friends, have private party on big deck with (BBQ supplied) or are 2 families holidaying together and wanting to share cost of a house

  • Close to many up market resort adventures and amenities

  • A family/private retreat that is constructed of all local indigenous woods. You can prepare your food in our fully equipped kitchen or enjoy the lovely garden view off our twenty by fifty foot outdoor deck while using the outdoor gas barbeque. Taxis service is readily available

  • 3 bedrooms plus an extra open plan sleeping area

  • 2 bathrooms

  • The house has 8 ceiling fans throughout and air conditioning units in the 2 main bedrooms

  • Sleeps 6 comfortably -  eight is the max allowed.

  • Lots of space, good kitchen with all cooking, crockery etc supplied

  • All linen & towels supplied, everything except your own food and beverages

  • The house section overlooks the Channel between Malololailai Island and Malolo Island, and there is a gently sloping private track down to the beach. There are also other superb beaches and a good selection of swimming pools close by. Reef House is owned separately from our neighboring resort (MCR, Fiji) but we, and our tenants, can use all their amenities . MCR is 15 minutes walk.

  • Plenty of room for extra fold away beds. Also reading room/bedroom built in couch that could be used as a bed.

  • Swimming out from the house is only possible around high tide, but there is good swimming and snorkeling out from the island bar at all tides.

Reef House costs just $745 Fijian dollars per night, including all taxes. This reduces to F$699 per night for stays of 7 nights or longer..

What is the Booking Policy? How do I book this house?

Ten percent of the total accommodation is required to be paid as a non refundable deposit on initial booking confirmation. Balance payable at least 30 days prior to arrival on the island. If travel is within 30days full payment is required at time of booking.

Note: It is recommended all guests take out full travel insurance to cover against any loss should they not be able to travel. There will be no refunds once a booking has been paid.

When is the house available for rent?

Reef House is available all year round except July and a check for confirmation can be made here.

I want to have something to do, what activities are there?

To avoid duplication and for your enjoyment you can use the resort's amenities , many free of charge. MCR are 15 minutes walk from the house, and for example there is snorkeling gear snorkeling trips, windsurfers, canoes, kayaks, row-boats, long-boat trip to Malolo Island (optional visit to Solevu Village), volley ball, petanque, nature walks, hiking, jogging trails and beachcombing

Boat Hire.. .Should you wish to charter a boat for any purpose please contact the Dock Activities Bure.
Water Taxi... Fast, comfortable modern water-taxis are available for personal or share charter trips between Musket Cove and other off-shore islands or to and from Denarau.
Yacht Charters...
A choice of yachts, ranging in size from 20ft to 100ft, are available for charter. There is a choice of fully crewed charters with skipper and cook, surfing and diving charters, learn to sail charters, luxury honeymoon charters.
Boat Trips...
Regular day trips to neighboring Resorts and secluded uninhabited islands are made as well as Sunset Cruises aboard "Dulcinea". Book at Dock Sports Bure.
Scuba Diving... "Subsurface Fiji" operate an accredited P.A.D.I. facility with certified courses available together with day and night recreational boat dives. Book at the Dive Shop.
Fishing...Game and Sports Fishing with the MV Anthony Star and MV Dolphin Star which are available for Charter. Book at the Dock Activity Bure.
Water Skiing... Experienced (6mins.), Learner (lesson + 10 mins.)
Hobie Cats...Available for hire

Malolo Lailai Island ...Guests are welcome to play the 9 hole Plantation Golf Course. Green Fees includes Clubs & Trundler. Electric Golf Buggies available.
